A little context

Why is there so little of your work online?

On purpose. I’ve done my best to keep my work a “digital secret” (limited videos, photos, etc.) and also to keep a “low online footprint” (read more at Media). I don’t like living inside algorithmic feeds. Some “magic” is meant to stay secret. Neuromagic works best live — in the room, with real people. –And, yes, I know, it’s a strange strategy in a social‑media society, not least from a business perspective… but only dead fish float with the stream. (Maybe my approach will change in the future. Only time will tell...)

How did you get started with Neuromagic?

Curiosity first, then obsession, then years of practice. If you want the longer version, it’s in About.

Do you only do card magic?

Fair question — and curiosity is always valid. I’m a multidisciplinary performer. Cards are a big part of what I do because they’re versatile and strong in many environments, but they’re not the only thing. And yes — for larger audiences (500+), I do other things too. I’ve performed hundreds of times at that scale, and I still do.

FYI: I’ve “DeGoogled & DeAppled” as much as I can. No Instagram, No Facebook, No WhatsApp, No Gmail. Read more on the Media page.

Before collaborating

Ethical Engagement Policy

In plain language: collaboration depends on protecting people, acting with integrity, and avoiding support for oppression or abuse. Open each section for the complete wording.

Rufus Wiena aims to uphold these principles in a complex world. Mistakes can happen; when they do, the goal is to acknowledge them, learn, and correct course. The intent is to align actions with stated values rather than compromise those values for money, fame, or influence.

1) Commitment to Ethical EngagementOpposition to harm and responsibility for affiliations

The Provider opposes genocide, ethnic cleansing, and systematic oppression, and condemns harm against civilians globally. The Provider will not knowingly work with any corporation, organisation, or individual that directly or indirectly supports, facilitates, funds, or profits from such acts.

Partners are expected to take responsibility for their affiliations and downstream impacts. This standard is non‑negotiable.

2) Protection of Children and MinorsSafeguarding is non-negotiable

Protection of children and minors is non‑negotiable. The Provider stands firmly against:

  • Any form of child or minor exploitation, sexualization, grooming, indoctrination, or abuse;
  • Any practices that normalize, excuse, or enable harm to children and minors;
  • Medical interventions on children and minors that permanently alter healthy development without clear medical necessity and fully informed, lawful consent.

The Provider will not associate with any entity that supports, enables, excuses, or covers for these abuses. If you cannot fully commit to protecting children and minors, please step back and do not pursue collaboration.

3) “Free Speech” and IntegrityOpen expression with respect and consistent standards

The Provider supports the right to question, criticise, and speak openly—even when views are unpopular or uncomfortable. That support is not a licence for threats, dehumanisation, or deliberate abuse: expression should be exercised honestly, respectfully, and with regard for human dignity. These standards should be applied consistently, without censorship double standards based on country, politics, or institutional convenience. Collaborators do not have to agree, but are expected to engage in good faith and act with integrity, respect, and consistency.
